We are seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer for an available contract opportunity to provide services for the Luke Air Force Base, AZ

Available Position: Certified Athletic Trainer

Place of Performance: Luke Air Force Base, 7219 N Litchfield Road, Luke AFB, AZ 85309

Period of performance: 09/30/2017 through 09/29/2022

Scope of Work: . The duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Assist Squadron Medical Elements (SMEs) assigned to Luke Air Force Base (LAFB) units, with integrated Aviator, Center of Excellence , (ACE) with the full spectrum of human performance optimization and rehabilitation. 

2. Will perform all prescribed treatments and recommended physical therapy modalities under the direction and supervision of the OIC. Modalities include, but are not limited to: warm and cold whirlpools, electrical stimulation, ultra-sound, iontophoresis, phonophoresis, therapeutic massage, cryotherapies, thermotherapies, manual therapies, and exercise protocols as well as employing proper sterile techniques and universal precautions in the care of open wounds. 

3.Provide athletic training services to patients including on/off site emergency evaluation, triage and treatment in accordance with local MDG policies. 

4. Assess patients to screen for risk factors that would increase their risk of injury/illness. These screening procedures may include, but are not limited to: musculoskeletal flexibility assessment, muscular strength and endurance assessment, cardiovascular fitness assessment, postural and ergonomic assessment and body composition assessment. 

5. Design and implement strength training and/or conditioning programs to reduce the risk of injury and illness. 

6. Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, human performance and rehabilitation maintenance. 

7. Coordinate and supervise fitness of assigned patients.

8. Ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition, and conditioning programs customized to meeting individual patient needs. 

9. Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefits of the sports medicine program for LAFB personnel. 

10. Facilitate and instruct patients to enhance their general knowledge of sports medicine concepts, injury prevention strategies, self-rehabilitative techniques and functional movement assessment in order to develop independence of action and allow participation in their own fitness prescriptions

Education. A Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree in Athletic Training focused on Kinesiology from an accredited institution. 
Certification/Licensure: Certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer and state licensed or eligible for state license.  Proof of licensure must be provided with the contractor’s quote in response to the solicitation. 
Experience. Have at least three (3) years of professional experience working with college level or higher athletes and/or tactical military personnel of which one (1) year of full-time experience must be within the last three (3) years. Candidates with Master’s degrees require only a minimum of two (2) years professional experience working with college level or higher athletes and/or tactical military personnel.
Certifications. Certified in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. Some examples of certification could be Graston, ASTM, and SASTM.
