We are seeking MSED Certified or MSED Eligible School Social Workers for an available contract opportunity to provide services at public schools in Baltimore, MD.

  4. Male Provider - Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys#375 -   1 FTE
  5. Bluford Drew Jemison STEM Academy West #364 – 1 FTE - coverage for 5 days until new hire- then possible reduction to 3 days

Facility Information: The Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools) serves the needs of public education in Baltimore City, covering approximately 77 square miles, with a residential population of more than 646,000. It is the fourth largest public school system in the State of Maryland. City Schools operates 190 facilities over a ten-mile radius, which includes Pre-k, elementary, middle, and high schools as well as special education centers and alternative schools. Background:  Project Achieve is a dropout prevention & reengagement initiative for high school aged students offered in partnership with the Open Society Institute and the City Schools’ Reengagement Center. Using the Accelerated Pathway as the core framework, services include: flexible and accelerated credit recovery opportunities, academic and career guidance, work experience, employability skills training, life skills education and post-secondary exploration. Students receive wraparound student support, including mentoring and mental health counseling. The goal of Project Achieve is to prepare young people for future educational and career success. For young people to thrive as adults, they need a strong academic foundation and the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in the workplace. In addition to these benefits for young people, Baltimore city’s emphasis on youth workforce development helps ensure employers have a ready supply of local talent to meet industry demands, and the city economy ultimately benefits from growth of jobs, incomes, and businesses. The case load is approximately 40 high school students.
The scope of work for the part-time social worker will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
Conduct intake and (if applicable) social-emotional assessments
Deliver case management and counseling services for selected ACCE Achievers
Co-chair Student Support Team (SST) meetings in order to develop, implement, and monitor the personalized achievement plans for ACCE Achievers
Provide referrals and resources as available for families of ACCE Achievers who are experiencing various challenges (homelessness, mental health needs, etc.)
Offer crisis intervention, conflict management, and advocate for students, staff, and families

Position Requirements/Qualifications 
The Social Worker must be licensed in the State of Maryland as a Clinical Social Worker LCSW-C.
Must have or have submitted an application for MSDE certification.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is desired.
Must provide three (3) letters of recommendation, or references.
