Global Health Care Group is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to provide services for the inmates incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Englewood, in Littleton, Colorado.

Available Position: one (1) pharmacy technician for 5 days a week, 6 hours a day, for 1 year.

Work Hours: The contractor will provide an estimated thirty (30) hours per week throughout the year. Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., excluding Federal holidays.   (The anticipated schedule includes a 30 minute non-paid lunch break.)

Work to be performed at:  The Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Englewood, located at 9595 W Quincy Ave, Littleton Colorado 80123. Services will be performed in the pharmacy located within the Health Services Department of the FCI.

Facility Information: The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Englewood in Littleton, Colorado, is a low security facility housing male offenders. The institution also has an administrative detention center and an adjacent satellite prison camp for minimum security male offenders. FCI Englewood is located 15 miles southwest of Denver, off U.S. Highway 285 and South Kipling Street.

 
Description of Duties
  • Assist the staff pharmacist in ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications while demonstrating knowledge of the budgetary guidelines and BOP Formulary constraints.
  • Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Assist the pharmacist in maintaining stock of up-to-date medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the main pharmacy, satellite camp, FDC, crash carts, emergency bags and Automated Dispensing Systems.
  • Assist the Pharmacist with maintaining stock of forms as needed and updating Pill Line/Restricted Medication cards for inmates as well as filing Medication Administration Records into the Medical Record.
  • Assist the Pharmacist in preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications.
  • Complete and maintain competency as indicated by the ability to complete the Pharmacy Competency Module while maintaining knowledge of BOP Formulary and any changes to this document.
  • Maintain the narcotics count and the needle and syringe inventories, as directed by the pharmacist.
  • Maintain and re-stock adequate supplies for the “Night Stock” cabinet, and perform audits of the “Night Stock” or Automated Dispensing System.
  • Possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
  • Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the Pharmacist or HSA.
  • Perform minor clerical duties; such as use of BOP electronic medical record, computer documentation and scheduling, scanning documents, filing, typing, call-outs, institutional memorandums, answering phones, scheduling patients and maintaining stock records.
 
Qualifications
Attire 
The pharmacy technician will wear professional clothing appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contractor will be performing; scrub uniforms are acceptable.
Education and Experience
The Pharmacy Technician under this award must have completed a formal Pharmacy Training Program, such as, the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the Institute for the
Certification of Pharmacy Technicians Board Test or have Pharmacy technician experience that includes at least 3 years of on the job training.
The applicant must have at least 1 (one) year of Pharmacy Technician experience, have a current CPR certification, experience working in a correctional environment is preferred, but not required.
