We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner Hospitalist for an available contract opportunity.

Available Position(s): Three Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Nurse Practitioners (NP) to perform work as a Hospitalist at Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH), Fort Riley, KS.

Place of Performance:  Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH), Fort Riley, KS.

Work Schedule:  Hospitalists shall work 12 hour shifts either 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Hospitalists will cover 7 days a week with a mix of military, civilian, and contract HCP’s. The actual schedule will be determined by the COR and/or Chief Medical Officer. Schedules are subject to change due to changes in mission requirements, cancellations, clinic staff changes, organization day, emergencies, exodus, training holidays and unexpected events. The contractor shall only be paid for actual hours worked. Overtime is not authorized for this contract.

Period of Performance: 3 months contract until a permanent hire can be made.

Orientation and Training: Prior to working, HCPs will be provided a Government paid orientation to familiarize HCPs with the policies and procedures of the MTF. Orientation attendance will be required of all HCPs and will be scheduled by the COR or DC during normal duty hours. Orientation will take place in the IACH Employee Service Center and typically lasts seven to ten business days.

Scope of Work: The HCP will perform services as a Nurse Practitioner Hospitalist, to include all admissions, call, inpatient and pediatric/nursery rounds, and first call for L&D. Pediatric services will provide backup as needed.

Be a certified registered Nurse Practitioner through either the American Nurses Credential Center (ANCC) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing acceptable to meet MTF credentialing requirements.
Possess evidence of continuing nursing education, which maintains skills and knowledge in the nursing specialty.
Have at least one (1) year experience within the past five years routinely practicing as a nurse practitioner within the specialty of Hospital Medicine in support of multiple services and specialties. Must have experience in care to newborns and children under the age of two.
Shall have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate, Neonate Resuscitative Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certificate. Certification must be maintained at all times. Emergency List support certifications must be sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association.
Contractor personnel must have and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in any of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands and be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine at IACH.
