We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomy for an available contract opportunity to provide services for the for the inmates incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary (USP) Marion located in Marion, PA.

Facility Information: The United States Penitentiary, Marion is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates in Illinois. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice
Work Schedule:  Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 30 minute unpaid lunch period (if applicable). The facility is expected to require an average of 5 to 6 hours per day,working five (5) days a week. The schedule shall not exceed 30 hours per week.
Period of Performance: Services shall be renewed on an annual basis, contingent upon acceptable performance and all necessary state reviews and approvals.
Basic Scope of Work (includes but it is not limited to):
1.  Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patient’s vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR). 
2. Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, vaccine programs and PPD updates. 
3. Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures.  Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file/scan results in lab and medical record. 
4. Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly. 
5. Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies. 
6. Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program. 
7. Complete and scan into BEMR the Medical Treatment Refusal forms for any inmate that wishes to refuse laboratory testing ordered by clinical staff.
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
1. Have valid certification to practice in the state of Illinois as a Medical Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist.
2. Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
3. Proof of experience with specimen collection, packaging and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records and proof of experience
