GHG is looking for a Temporary General Dentist to provide services for the inmate population at the Federal Correctional Institution La Tuna, located in Anthony, Texas.

Place of Performance: Services will be provided in the Health Services Units of FCI La Tuna, located at 8500 Doniphan, Anthony, Texas 79821.
 
Facility Information: The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) - La Tuna in Anthony, Texas, is a low security facility housing male inmates. FCI La Tuna is located on the Texas and New Mexico border, 12 miles north of the city limits of El Paso, off Interstate 10, and on State Highway 20.  The satellite low security facility is located approximately 30 miles from the FCI.
Work Schedule: It is anticipated that the Dentist will work an estimated 960 hours (120 working days), with an optional performance period for an additional 960 hours (240 total working days). 
Temporary services may be performed for up to 120 workdays in a 24-month period. The 24-month period begins on the first day of assignment, with the option of an additional 120 workdays if it is determined essential to the Government to continue services. The contractor will normally work forty (40) hours per week. The schedule will typically consist of eight (8) hours per day, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, not to exceed 40 hours per week. The schedule may be modified at any time by the Health Services Administrator (HSA) at any time based on the needs of the institution, as long as the schedule does not exceed forty (40) hours per week, i.e., four ten hour days, etcetera are authorized as long as the total does not exceed forty (40) hours per week.

Basic Scope of Work (includes but it is not limited to):
The contractor will be responsible for providing in-house dental care for the inmate population. The contractor will screen dental patients, recommend and perform follow-up care, provide dental hygiene services if indicated and perform emergency dental care for relief of severe dental pain, traumatic injuries, acute infections, sedative fillings, and extraction of nonrestorable teeth. Instruct inmates regarding their dental care and provide patient education about dental treatment received. All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Dentistry, and in compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission (JC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. Due to JC regulations, as well as BOP Health Services policies, history and evaluations shall be completed as scheduled. Detailed medical record documentation must be maintained. The contractor’s performance shall be monitored by the HSA and the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).
The contractor will evaluate patients by referral from medical staff and recommend treatment to the medical staff. The contractor will document accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record and will have all documentation completed by the end of the work day. Any recommendations for further diagnostic testing and/or treatment will be made in the appropriate section of the electronic record, pending review by the Utilization Review committee.
The contractor shall provide care on a non-discriminatory basis to include necessary professional outpatient dental services as appropriate.
All necessary supplies, equipment, and materials that the contractor may routinely need will be provided by the Health Services Department at the institution. If specific supplies and/or equipment are necessary for the contractor to provide the required services, he/she shall forward their request to the Health Services Administrator or designee. The contractor will be expected to account for all materials and supplies placed under his/her disposition. All records maintained by the contractor under this contract will remain property of FCI. The performance of these services will also be verified by the designated COR.
Contractor will be authorized to use all clinical areas of the FCI's facility available to our staff. The contractor may share the use of the private dental office for completion of required computerized documentation and the review of test results.

INMATE MANAGEMENT
Provisions of services under this BPA will require frequent and unsupervised contact with inmates. The contract employee shall not be responsible for the management of any inmates, other than to ensure inmates involved within the contract’s scope of work abide by all rules to ensure their safety and well-being. The contractor may, at any time, be removed from the institution at the discretion of the CEO. The contractor is to constantly be aware of security and maintain a professional relationship with inmates at all times. Any violation of the institution rules and regulations are to be brought immediately to the attention of any Government employee employed at the institution. The contractor will be required to provide documentation to the COR, Contract Specialist or designee, of any infractions of institutional rules and regulations by inmates for proper action.

Qualifications
The Dentist must have graduated from an accredited Dental School and earned a DMD or DDS degree.
Must posses a current and valid license to practice Dentistry.
Proof of CPR certification is required.
Experience in a correctional health care setting preferred, but not required.
