We are seeking qualified Registered Nurses for an available contract opportunity to perform services at the Northern Navajo Medical Center located in Shiprock, New Mexico.

Available Positions: 6 Registered Nurses - Medical Surgical Unit

Place of Performance:  Northern Navajo Medical Center located in Shiprock, New Mexico. 
 
Work Shifts: The shifts are 12 hour rotational (day or night) including weekends and Government Holidays. 

Period of Performance:  January 1, 2019 through December December 31, 2019

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

Education:
Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. 

Experience: The RN must have a minimum of 2 years of independent Inpatient Medical Surgical clinical nursing experience. The nurse needs to possess basic nursing knowledge, clinical skill and competency. The RN needs to be BLS and ACLS certification. The nurse needs to be competent in the care of a comprehensive, acutely/chronically-ill adult, ranging from young adulthood to geriatrics. The RN needs to know the care of telemetry patients, care of post-operative patients, those patients requiring blood product administration, and use of routine equipment (SCD machines, PCA pumps, IV pumps, etc.) and be competent to assist with bedside procedures (lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis, placement of central lines, etc.). The RN needs to be able to problem solve, critically think, and make appropriate clinical judgment and decisions. 

Professional skills: 
- Anatomy & Physiology of all age groups: young adulthood to geriatrics 
- Proficient in IV cannulation/blood draws of all age groups 
- Assess all ages and communicates abnormal signs and symptoms to Medical Provider appropriately 
- Ability to work with Electronic Health Record & Barcode Medication Administration Scanners 
- Ability to float to Pediatric Inpatient Unit upon completion of a Float Competency Skills Checklist. This is merely a preference and not mandatory for this position. 

Equipment skills: 
- BP/Temp Machines 
- Alaris IV and PCA pumps 
- SCDs (Sequential Compression Devices) 
- Kangaroo feeding pumps 
- LINET and Hill-Rom beds 
- Nihon-Khoden Cardiac monitors and telemetries 

****Previous Indian Health Service employment preferred**** 

Licensure: Must possess and maintain current State licensure while employed with Indian Health Service (IHS). 

Certifications (MANDATORY): 
- a valid and unrestricted State Nursing License 
- a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification with American Heart Association 
- a current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification with American Heart Association
