Global Health Care Group is looking for a Dental Assistant to render on-site services for the inmate population incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) McKean located in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania.
Available Position: Dental Assistant Services for FCI McKean
Work to be performed at the Health Services Unit at: The Dental Assistant Services will be performed on-site in the Health Services Department at the Federal Correctional Institution and Satellite Camp, FCI McKean located at 6975 Route 59, Lewis Run, PA 16738.

Facility Information: The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) - McKean is a medium security facility housing male inmates.  An adjacent satellite prison camp houses minimum security male offenders.
FCI McKean is located in northwest Pennsylvania between Bradford and Kane, Pennsylvania.  It is situated 90 miles south of Buffalo, New York, off Route 59; and approximately 1/4 mile east of the intersection of State Route 59 and U.S. Route 219.
Work Schedule: The contractor may be assigned to any schedule as the need arises. Primary period of duty will normally be Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch period. A session will equal to one (1) hour. The Dental Assistant’s schedule shall not exceed 35 hours per week (in any one week). The actual hours of work will be determined by the Health Services Administrator. As clinical need and/or the Chief Dental Officer’s schedule dictates, will determine the exact daily work hours and days of the week assignment for the Dental Assistant.

Description of Services (includes but it is not limited to): 
The Dental Assistant must possess the ability to collect and track data and enter data into the agency’s electronic system and track scheduling of patient care and must have knowledge and experience in maintaining patient medical records and confidentiality.
  1. Have the ability to perform chair side assistant to the dentist during routine procedures and surgical procedures.
  2. Have a working knowledge of the sterilization process (ie. a clean to dirty system).
  3. Perform Quality Assurance Protocol weekly maintenance of equipment.
  4. Have the ability to operate a panorex x-ray machine and perform chair side x-rays.
  5. Knowledge of how to properly obtain surgical consent following Joint Commission patient safety goals.
  6. Maintaining accountability of all dental instruments including needles and syrings.
  7. The Contractor shall be required to perform minor clerical duties; such as filing, typing, call-outs, institutional memorandums, answering phones, scheduling patients, maintaining stock records and exposure log books, contacting vendors for pricing information along with preparing the appropriate ordering forms for supplies, and other general duties recognized as routine in a clinic.
  8. Must be knowledgeable in the use of computer programs and email.
  9. Must wear appropriate and professional attire at all times.  The Dental Assistant is prohibited from wearing clothing that is the same color as the inmate population.
Period of Performance: This is a five (5) years contract, one base year and four option years to be exercised at the Government's unilateral discretion. The anticipated start date is January 16, 2019.
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
Education and Experience: The Dental Assistant shall possess specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school. Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety. The Dental Assistant shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable.

Health Requirements: The contractor shall ensure the Dental Assistant is free of infectious diseases. Any individual performing as a Dental Assistant under this contract who subsequently develops a medical condition which might reasonably be expected to place other workers, patients, or the public at risk shall be immediately removed from activities requiring performance of invasive procedures and activities which might reasonably be expected to place other workers, patients, or the public at risk. In any such case, the contractor(s) shall be responsible, at no additional cost to the institution, for securing the services of any replacement personnel required to perform this contract.
