Global Health Care Group is looking for a Licensed Dentist to provide on-site dental services for the inmates housed at the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, located at the Federal Correctional Institution in  Terminal island, California.

Work to be performed at: The Health Services Unit(s) located at the FCI Terminal Island.


These services will be rendered on-site for the inmate population incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Terminal Island located in San Pedro, California. 

Facility Information: The Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Terminal Island, California, is a low security facility housing male inmates who are being held under the authority of the Federal Government by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. FCI Terminal Island is located at the entrance to the Los Angeles Harbor, between San Pedro and Long Beach off Harbor Freeway (110 South) at the Terminal Island exit.

Work Schedule: The contractor Dentist will normally work forty (40) hours per week, Monday through Friday (except during Federal Holidays), normally between the hours of 6:00 a.m. through 3:30 p.m., with a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period. The Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and the Health Services Administrator (HSA) will be responsible for defining the weekly schedule. These schedules are subject to change based on the variable needs of the institution(s) and the unpredictable nature of the correctional environment.
Period of Performance: from start date, (approximate effective date of December 1, 2018) through 60 months.

Services include but are not limited to:
The contractor will be responsible for providing in-house dental care for the inmate population. The contractor will screen dental patients, recommend and perform follow-up care, provide dental hygiene services if indicated and perform other duties as assigned by the HSA. All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Dentistry, and in compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission (JC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. Due to JC regulations, as well as BOP Health Services policies, history and evaluations shall be completed as scheduled. For reasons of security and cost containment, minor dental surgical services shall be performed within the confines of the FCI as much as possible. When it is determined by FCI staff that it is medically indicated to transport federal inmates off the premises for needed dental surgical or emergency care, inmates can be transported to community medical/dental facilities, to be seen by a community oral surgeon and/or specialist. The contractor must make every reasonable effort to provide needed health care services on the premises of FCI, within the limits of his expertise.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
  • The Dentist must have graduated from an accredited Dental School and earned a DMD or DDS degree there to practice dentistry.
  • A Dentist Licensure must be maintained throughout performance under contract. 
  • Must have proof of Malpractice Insurance
  • This is a request for an independent contractor and not a personal appointment.
