We are seeking an experienced  Dental Assistant for an available contract opportunity to provide services on-site for the inmate population incarcerated at the Federal Prison Camp - Pensacola, FL

Facility Information: FPC Pensacola is a minimum security federal prison camp for male offenders.

Work Schedule: The contractor will normally provide eight (8) hours per day, on Monday-Friday, excluding Federal Holidays.  Work hours will normally be between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:00 pm.  These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution.  The facility is expected to require an average of 40 hours per week

Due to the nature of the correctional setting, delays in performance of work may be experienced.  Such delays may include, but are not limited to inclement weather, electrical or mechanical problems, or other security matters.

Description of Services (includes but it is not limited to): 
The contractor must be able to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial and ethnic backgrounds.   
The Dental Assistant must possess the ability to collect, enter, and track data within the agency’s electronic system (BEMR), and must have knowledge and experience in maintaining patient medical records and confidentiality.    
The contractor shall perform the following services, which include, but are not limited to, the items listed below: 
Assists Dental Officer at the chair side with a wide range of dental procedures 
Provides post-operative, discharge, and dental health instructions and education
Fabricates and repairs dental prosthesis and appliances under supervision
Make primary impressions and pours casts 
Obtains diagnostic periapical, bitewing, and panoramic radiographs as prescribed by the dentist  and saves digital radiographs to patient medical records
Cleans and sterilizes instruments according to manufacturer’s instructions
Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment, including minor repairs,  according to the manufacturer’s instructions
Reports defective equipment to the dentist, or utilizes corrective action
Maintains proper infection control procedures and practices
Manages contaminated biological waste from dental clinic 

Specific directions related primarily to unusual treatment concerning emergency professional therapy are given by the attending dentist who explains changes in professional dental procedures that are available to resolve such problems, and render advice as needed.  Guidelines consist of applicable professional practices and specific written and oral instructions.  
Education and Experience
The Dental Assistant shall possess specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school.  Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety.  The Dental Assistant shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association and have a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services.
