We are seeking a qualified CT Technologist for an available contract opportunity at the Indian Health Services (I.H.S) Hospital, in Crownpoint, New Mexico.  

Available Position(s):  CT Technologist

Work to be performed at:  Crownpoint Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF), located in Crownpoint, NM.
Period of Performance: Date of hire (ASAP) through June 30, 2018. (If an extension needs to be made, an amendment will be done to extend services.) 

Work Shifts: Shifts are 8-10 hours rotational including weekends and Government Holidays.  Subject to work regularly assigned schedule and this will included rotational, or callback/on-call basis to provide continuity of CT services during evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends, seven days a week, 24 hours per day. In emergency cases, the contractor may be required to work additional hours as Call Backs/On-call for Stat requests by the physicians and Overtime may be beyond over 80 hrs. As needed. The extra hours will be charged at the agreed upon rate. Contractor will be assigned duties by the Radiology Department Supervisor as needed.

Scope of Work: 
Provide Computed Tomography Technologist services on-site in Medical Imaging department of the Crownpoint Healthcare Facility. Incumbent works independently in many situations applying professional expertise and personal knowledge to many complex procedures. The work requires thorough knowledge of established Computed Tomography (CT) principles, methods, and concepts to perform the full range of standardized, complex, and specialized examinations with established methodology manuals, technical references, and precedents.
There is no permanent radiologist on site. Most studies will be sent to an offsite teleradiology. The CT technologist is considered the professional and technical expert. Independently determines protocol and methods to be used as stated above. Make determination to deviate from the normal standardized examinations especially in trauma and contrast examinations with precision and accuracy. Administers opaque media for all prescribed examinations, performs IV cannulations, monitors power injector injection and recognizes complication of injections. Monitors patient’s vital signs and notifies the ER physician of any significant changes. Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination in various examinations.
CT technologist must have skill in the operation and maintenance of the scanner equipment and familiarity and knowledge of accreditation standards and requirements to perform quality control and quality assurance responsibilities necessary to control all variables and show consistency in the output of the CT scanner and consistency in the resultant images. Perform quality control on all images prior to routing for read, to review workstations for providers, and archived
Technologist must be able to perform a full range of specialized test and quality control for troubleshooting procedures to calculating and correlating test results. Perform required daily calibration tests, recognize equipment malfunctions, record appropriate equipment errors and contact CT service engineer and/or Information Technician and communicate responses to Supervisor.
Practices radiation safety and produces ionizing radiation within a safe permissible range (As Low As Reasonably Achievable = ALARA) as to achieve quality images for various types of patients and provide proper radiation protection devices available.
Provide guidance and training to Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (RT) who is in the process of cross-training into CT modality. Performs all clerical duties such as processing in and out patients in RPMS and EHR systems. Complete billing information and encounter documents for each patient examined in EHR for coding. Input information for telemedicine site, ONRAD, INC, for reading
Perform other duties as assigned. If not busy with CT services function, the contractor will assist with Computed Radiologic (CR) X-ray examinations.


Education:  Degree or diploma 
Certifications: Must be registered with ARRT for (R) and advanced (CT) and provide proof of registration. Must have BLS certification. 
-Skill in the operation and maintenance of the scanner equipment. 
-Familiarity and knowledge of accreditation standards. 
-Able to perform quality control. 
-Immediately familiar with CMS and/or JACHO regulations and capable of ensuring compliance. 
-Must be registered with ARRT for CT and RT and provide proof. 
-Proof of current immunization records 
-5 years experience
