Available Position: Ultrasound Abdominal Technologist

Place of Performance: On-site VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS)  UD Division, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15240 and HJ Heinz Division, 1010 Delafield Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15215 


Work Schedule: 
Mostly, 1 DAY PER WEEK on WEDNESDAYS, with an occasional Friday and the additional hours as listed below:
Week of April 1 – April 8: 40 hours - PENDING IMMEDIATE CLEARANCE
Week of May 27 – June 2, 2018: 40 hours
Week of June 3 -9, 2018: 40 hours
Week of July 1 – July 7, 2018: 32 hours
Week of July 22-July 28: 40 hours
Week of August 19 – August 25, 2017: 40 hours
Week of September 2 – September 8, 2018: 32 hours
Week of October 7 – October 13, 2018: 32 hours
Week of October 14 – 20, 2018: 40 hours
Week of November 18 – November 24, 2018: 32 hours
Week of December 23 – December 29, 2018: 32 hours

Basic Scope of Work (includes but it is not limited to):
Will be working in a solely   abdominal scanning lab fast paced environment, which includes both outpatient scanning as well as inpatient scanning, at both University Drive and HJ Heinz campuses. Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to: communicating effectively with and professionally with co-workers, patients and families, independently performing diagnostic tests, acting as a liaison and information source for patient and family,   nursing staff and medical staff. 

Ability to independently  perform ,examinations of the neck, thorax, abdomen and pelvis, vessels, extremities and abdominal dopplers to include, but not limited to complete abdomen, right upper quadrant, abdomen with spectral and color dopplers, pre- and post- liver transplant spectral and color dopplers, abdomen with elastography, renal, renal artery imaging for both native and transplant kidneys with spectral and color doppler, thyroid, neck post thyroidectomy, scrotum to include color and spectral dopplers, pelvic to include transabdominal and transvaginal scanning, AAA screenings and follow up, and provide guidance for biopsies, drainages, RFA procedures, microwave ablation procedures, thoracentesis, and paracentesis. Performs the following examinations: 
  • Complete abdomen / Right Upper Quadrant Abdomen
  • Complete Abdomen / Right Upper Quadrant Abdomen with Dopplers
  • Renal (native kidney and transplant kidney)
  • Transplant kidney with Dopplers
  • Renal artery imaging – native kidney
  • Post-operative endovascular AAA follow-up with duplex scan
  • Aorta for screening and follow up
  • GYN scanning (trans abdominal / trans vaginal)
  • Small parts scanning – thyroid, scrotal, extremity
  • Localization scanning
  • Interventional radiology guidance – abscesses, thoracentesis, paracentesis

Position Requirements/Qualifications
License: Personnel assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contract and its associated task orders shall be currently certified or licensed, as appropriate, in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.  
Education: Completion of an accredited two year ultrasound program with ARDMS in Abdomen/Small Body parts.
Certifications: Proof current CPR Certification and ARDMS is required. 
Experience: Preference for candidate to have experience in, general studies lab.   Candidate must maintain Registered Diagonostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) credentials.
