We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse for an available contract opportunity to perform services at the Northern Navajo Medical Center located in Shiprock, New Mexico.

Available Positions: Registered Nurse Service in Post Anesthesia Care Unit

Place of Performance:  Northern Navajo Medical Center located in Shiprock, New Mexico.
 
Work Shifts:

The shift hours are 8 hours stagger from 0900 or 0930, weekend call and Holiday call time. 
The call starts at 1630-0730 for weekdays and weekends start on Saturday at 0730 to Monday 0730. 
Must be able to take a call & respond within 45 minutes once they are notified of a surgical case. 

Period of Performance:  ASAP through December 31, 2018 

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

INITIAL APPOINTMENTS REQUIREMENTS: 
Education: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. 

Experience: The RN needs to have at least 2 year experience in Critical Care nursing and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The individual must initiate treatment, medication, emergency and resuscitative measures based on standing orders. Observe and assess the post-anesthesia patients health. Familiar with American Society of Post Anesthesia Nurses and Joint Commission Standards. 

Professional skills: 
- Experience with General Surgery, ENT, Oral Surgery, Pediatric, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Urology and the GI Lab 
- Familiar with the American Society of Post Anesthesia Nurses Recommended Standards, Infection Control, Safety and Joint Commission Standards 
- Familiar with Anesthetic agents administered intraoperative and post-operative medications (i.e. antiemetics and narcotics) 
- Familiar with General Anesthesia, Regional Anesthetics, Spinals, monitor anesthesia care and local anesthetics 
- Recognize and be able to KSAs for emergency post-op complications, hemorrhage, respiratory distress and laryngospasms 
- Ability to work with Electronic Health Record & Barcode Medication Administration Scanners 

Equipment skills: Operate and monitors specialized equipment such as cardiac monitor, crash cart, emergency drugs, hemodynamic monitor, defibrillators, suction equipment, hypo/hyperthermia devices, blood/fluid warmer and bair huggers. 

Licensure: Must possess and maintain current State licensure while employed with Indian Health Service (IHS). 

Certifications (MANDATORY): 
- a valid and unrestricted State Nursing License 
- a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification with American Heart Association 
- a current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification with American Heart Association 
- a current Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Certification with American Heart Association
