We are seeking a Certified Phlebotomist for an available contract opportunity to provide services for the for the inmates incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary (USP) Lee and Federal Prison Camp (FPC) located in Pennington Gap, Virginia.  
Facility Information: The United States Penitentiary (USP) - Lee in Jonesville is a high security facility housing male offenders.  An adjacent minimum security satellite prison camp houses male offenders. USP Lee is located in southwest Virginia in Lee County, 8 miles east of Jonesville, off U.S. 58 at the intersection of State Route 638.

 Basic Scope of Work (includes but it is not limited to
Assist the physician, physician assistant, and/or nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patient’s vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).  
Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, and updating the BEMR lab requests. 
Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures.  Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and scan results into the BEMR.  
Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.  
Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or designee in the coordination of BOP and contract reference lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance and quality control checks of equipment and notification of needed supplies.  
Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program.  
Work Schedule:  The work schedule is not anticipated to exceed 30 hours per week. The weekly schedule will normally consist of six (6) hours per day, Monday through Friday (except federal holidays).  Hours shall be scheduled between the hours of 7:30 to 4:00 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.  These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution and may be assigned to any schedule as the need arises.  Due to the nature of the correctional setting, delays in performance of work may be experienced.  Such delays may include but are not limited to inclement weather, electrical or mechanical problems, and other security matters. 
Period of Performance: Services shall be provided for a period of 60 months from date of  hire, renewed on an annual basis, contingent upon acceptable performance and all necessary state reviews and approvals.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
The phlebotomist must be a graduate of an accredited school or program resulting in a phlebotomy certification with at least one year experience and/or have worked as a phlebotomist with at least one year experience performing venipuncture and collection of lab specimens in a clinical setting. 
The phlebotomist shall provide written documentation of certification (copy of all diplomas and /or certificates) that permits them to perform the services at the USP.   
Additionally, phlebotomists performing services shall be certified in CPR and maintain CPR certification throughout the duration of the contract.
