We are seeking a Certified Phlebotomist Services for an available contract opportunity to provide services to the inmate population at the Federal Medical Center, Lexington, located in Lexington, Kentucky.

Facility Information: The Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Lexington, Kentucky is an administrative facility for male inmates. The facility also has an adjacent minimum security satellite camp for female inmates. FMC Lexington is located 7 miles north of Lexington on U.S. Highway 421.

Work Schedule:  6, hours per day, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays).  Hours shall be scheduled between the hours of 6:30 am ‐ 1:00 pm with a 30‐minute unpaid lunch break.

Period of Performance: The contract performance period is anticipated to consist of 60 months of service (5 years).

Description of Duties: 

Phlebotomist ‐ Phlebotomists draw blood from patients or donors in hospitals, blood banks, or  similar facilities for analysis or other medical purposes. They assemble equipment such as  tourniquet, needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray according  to requirements for specified tests or procedures, verify or record identities of patients or  donors and converse with patients or donors to allay fears of procedures. This worker applies  tourniquet to arm, locates accessible vein, swabs puncture area with disinfectant, inserts  needle into vein to draw blood into collection tube or bag, withdraws needle, applies treatment  to puncture site, and labels and stores blood container for subsequent processing. This worker  may prick finger to draw blood, conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood  samples to screen donors at blood bank.   

Education, Certification and Experience: 
Phlebotomy Technician (NCPT) or Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT)
​Must have completed a phlebotomy program.
Must be Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
